IDA Ireland has applied for planning permission to demolish two dilapidated buildings at the IDA Arklow Business & Technology Park in Ballynattin.
The proposal covers the demolition of the existing buildings, the disconnection of services, clearance of the site and the felling of one mature yew tree.
The planning documentation identifies the two structures as Ballynattin Office, the larger building located near the south-eastern corner of the site, and Ballynattin Cottage, a smaller building situated closer to the northern boundary.
The site measures approximately 0.225 hectares and is accessed from the L6187 road via existing pedestrian and vehicular gates.
According to the application documentation, the buildings are located in a predominantly rural setting, with industrial and commercial properties on either side.

The application states that specialist assessments and reports have been carried out to establish the condition of the two buildings. Based on the findings of those assessments, the applicant recommends that both structures be demolished, citing their deteriorated condition and potential risks to public safety and the surrounding area.
The documentation also states that retaining the buildings is considered neither practical nor appropriate, and that their condition negatively affects the visual appearance of the site and its immediate surroundings.
If demolition proceeds, the works would allow the site to be cleared and secured, leaving the way open for consideration of a suitable future use. However, the application does not specify what that future use might be.
Wicklow County Council’s planning website lists the application as incomplete, with the issue relating to an incorrect date entered on the site notice displayed at the property. The application documentation was received by the council on 8th October 2026.
The incomplete status means the application has not yet progressed as a complete planning submission. The status does not, in itself, represent a decision to grant or refuse permission.
It remains to be seen whether the applicant will be required to correct the site notice and provide any further information before the application can proceed.
The application seeks permission for demolition and site clearance only. It does not set out a detailed redevelopment proposal for the lands.
Any subsequent plans for the site may require separate consideration, depending on the nature of the proposed development and the relevant planning requirements.
