Paddy Power parent Flutter to cut up to 1,400 UK and Ireland jobs

Flutter Entertainment, the parent company of Paddy Power, has announced a restructuring of its UK and Ireland business that is expected to result in up to 1,400 redundancies with the plans remaining subject to consultation.

The company said staff in a number of locations will be affected, including Leeds in the UK and Dublin in Ireland. UK and Ireland employees based at Flutter hubs in Porto, Portugal, and Cluj-Napoca, Romania, are also included. Flutter employs 28,500 people worldwide, around 9,000 of them in its UK and Ireland business.

Flutter said the move is part of its response to the increase in UK gaming taxes announced in the 2025 Autumn Budget. It said the restructuring is expected to cost between $80m and $90m, to be incurred in the fourth quarter of 2026. Kevin Harrington, chief executive of Flutter UK and Ireland, said his immediate focus is supporting affected colleagues through a difficult period.

Paddy Power, which is part of the Flutter group, closed its shop in Arklow along with permanently closing 28 shops in the Republic of Ireland in 2025. They announced in September 2026 that it was set to shut up to 100 shops. Flutter’s latest announcement however indicates that the latest job cuts will not be in its retail operations.
