Arklow Runners Take On Gorey Night Run 5k

A large group of Arklow runners took to the streets of Wexford for the Gorey Night Run 5k. A total of 31 members of St Benedict Inbhear Mór AC from Juvenile and Senior level completed the course which began at Gorey Library.
The event in its 10th year saw over 1,000 entries with proceeds going toward North Wexford Hospice.
There was success on the night with Aoife Tunney winning 1st Female O50 and Jacqueline Heaney finishing 3rd in the F40 categories respectively.
In the Juvenile section, Eoghan O’Reilly picked up 2nd place in the Male U16 category with Libby Dillon finishing 3rd in the Female U16 category.
Public Relations Officer for St Benedict Inbhear Mór AC Kevin Groome said:
“We were delighted to have such a strong representation at this great event with 13 Juvenile and 18 Senior members taking part”
“It shows that there is a strong cohort of runners in Arklow and just how much the club has grown in the last few years. The support that our members showed to each other on the night was fantastic and also from those cheering on the sidelines.”
The club recently saw great success in the Wicklow Indoor Championships. They also hosted the Juvenile League at the Arlow running track where over 300 young runners across Wicklow taking part. Membership details for St Benedict Inbhear Mór AC are available on their website sbim.ie
