Arklow Running Track Lights Work Completed

The newly installed lights at the Arklow Running Track have been switched on after a lengthy delay. The news was met with great enthusiasm from the Arklow community, especially from those who use the facility on a regular basis.
One such group is St. Benedict Inbhear Mor AC, Arklow’s only officially registered Athletics Club. A spokesperson for the club said;
“It’s a very welcome addition and badly needed, especially during these dark months. We have over 160 Senior and Juvenile members in St Benedict Inbhear Mór AC who use the track regularly, not to mention the large number of others in the town. It can potentially be a great community facility in the future.”
Also speaking on the news, Local Councillor Warren O’Toole said;
“I’m delighted to see the lights at the Arklow running track finally switched on! While some adjustments are still needed to address the darker sections, this is a fantastic step forward.” “A huge thanks to the ESB team, who went above and beyond their remit to support this project for the benefit of the community. Credit is also due to the staff at Arklow MD, who worked tirelessly to overcome numerous obstacles and ensure the lights were completed in time for the Christmas holidays.” “The next phase involves levelling the existing surface with a fresh layer of stone to create a better and safer track for users. While this is an interim solution, it’s clear that we won’t settle for this as the final standard. I’m fully committed to working towards a full resurfacing project, providing a high-quality, all-weather track with proper lane markings.” “I’m proud to have played a role in bringing the ESB on board for this effort and will continue striving to ensure we deliver a facility that meets the needs of everyone in our community.”
