‘Arklow Cars And Coffee’ Gears Up For First Event

Arklow ‘Cars and Coffee’ is set to join the growing nationwide trend of informal car meets, as a local car enthusiast takes the initiative to launch the town’s very own event.
The idea came from Lathan McDonald, who is passionate about the car scene, and decided to stop travelling to neighbouring towns for motoring events and instead bring the experience closer to home. Speaking to Arklow News, Lathan spoke about setting up the event:
“I’m big into the car scene myself and so are all my friends. We’ve always had to travel elsewhere to attend events and catch up. So I thought, why not start something right here in Arklow?”
The event aims to bring together car lovers of all ages to show off their vehicles, enjoy a cup of coffee, and connect with like-minded individuals. Whether it’s a beloved classic, a modified showstopper, or a well-used daily driver, all vehicles and owners are welcome.
The organiser hopes the Arklow Cars and Coffee meet will not only be a hit with local enthusiasts but will grow into a regular feature in the town’s social calendar.
“All I ask is that people come along. Bring your family and friends, show off your pride and joy or even your everyday car and enjoy some good company, banter, and maybe make a few new mates along the way. We’re looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing all your lovely machines. Let’s get this off the ground.”
The first event will take place on May 11th from 11am – 3pm at Arklow Rugby Football Club and will be fundraising for Futures In Mind, a community-based charity focused on suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and bereavement support.
Entry is free and there will be support from Apex Valeting & Detailing, All Off Cleaning Products, Nitro Knights, Southside Motor Club, Arklow Recovery Service and many more, with Kul Beans Kaffe drive-thru on site for refreshments.
The community is already rallying behind the idea, with strong interest growing on social media. The goal is to create a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere that celebrates everything automotive, from supercars to vintage classics and everything in between.
Anyone interested in attending or supporting the event is encouraged to keep an eye on updates through the newly launched Arklow Cars and Coffee Facebook group.
