Applications Open For 2025 ‘Sing in Wicklow’ Awards Scheme

The Wicklow County Arts Office is now accepting applications for the 2025 ‘Sing in Wicklow’ Awards Scheme, which offers funding of up to €1,500 to successful applicants. This initiative aims to support choirs across Wicklow by providing opportunities to participate in workshops, competitions, and collaborative projects while also fostering performances, peer learning, networking, and new member recruitment.
Singing is a powerful tool for self-expression, boosting confidence, enhancing emotional well-being, and creating a sense of community. Regardless of experience or vocal ability, group singing has well-documented benefits for physical, mental, and social health, making it an inclusive and rewarding activity for all.
The ‘Sing in Wicklow’ Awards Scheme is part of a broader effort to develop choral music in the county. In 2018, with support from Creative Ireland, the Wicklow County Arts Office initiated an extensive consultation process with Strategic Consultant Katherine Zeserson and 18 choirs of various ages and styles.
This process led to the publication of the Choral Activation Strategy in 2019, which prioritizes creating a county-wide choral network and enhancing the skills of singers and choir leaders.
Applications open on Monday, 10th March and must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, 7th April 2025.
Full details, including guidelines and application forms, are available on the Arts page: https://www.wicklow.ie/Living/Services/Arts-Heritage-Archives/Arts/Funding-Support-Opportunities.
Counellor Paul O’Brien, Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, encouraged choirs and singers to seize this opportunity:
“I urge all choirs in Wicklow to take advantage of this fantastic initiative and continue to build a thriving choral community.”
Emer O’Gorman, Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council, also emphasized the importance of this program:
“Thanks to the continued support of Creative Ireland, the Wicklow County Arts Office is able to nurture and promote choral music across the county.”
