The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) is calling on the people of Arklow to roll up their sleeves and help save lives. A blood donation clinic will be visiting the town on the 18th, 19th, and 20th of March, providing locals with an opportunity to make a real difference in their community.
Where and When?
The clinic will be set up at the Arklow Bay Hotel, and donation sessions will be held at the following times:
- Monday, March 18th: 15:50 – 20:10
- Tuesday, March 19th: 15:50 – 20:10
- Wednesday, March 20th: 15:50 – 20:10
Why Donate Blood?
Blood donation is a simple yet powerful act that can help save multiple lives. Every week, hospitals across Ireland require hundreds of blood donations for patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatment, or emergency care. A single donation can help up to three people in need.
Who Can Donate?
Most healthy individuals aged 18-65 (or up to 70 for regular donors) who meet the eligibility criteria can donate. If you are a first-time donor or unsure of your eligibility, you can check the IBTS website or contact them directly for guidance.
How to Prepare for Donation
- Eat a light meal before donating.
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
- Bring photo ID for registration.
- Avoid strenuous exercise immediately after donating.
