Brave Fundraisers Complete ‘Freezbrury’ Challenge For Arklow Cancer Support

A group of dedicated men in Arklow completed a ‘Freezbrury Challenge’ this month to raise vital funds for Arklow Cancer Support. Conor Dunne, Conor Byrne, Thomas Hogan, JJ Sweeney, and Sean Gregory braved the cold waters daily throughout the month as locals rallied behind the cause. The lads have raised over €6,000 so far with that total still rising.
Supporting a Vital Community Service
The Freezbrury Challenge is no small feat, with a commitment to immersing themselves in freezing water every day in February, gradually increasing the time spent in the cold. Day 1 began with one minute and ended with a chilly 28 minutes on Day 28.
The rules included wearing shorts only, no hats or gloves, and submerged to the waist with at least one ‘head dunk’. The effort was all in aid of Arklow Cancer Support, a local charity providing essential services to individuals and families affected by cancer.
By taking part in this challenge, they hope to not only raise much-needed funds but also spread awareness about the invaluable work that Arklow Cancer Support does in the community.
How to Donate & Support the Cause
The team have a fundraising page on iDonate.ie which will remain open in March, where members of the public can contribute to their efforts. Every donation, big or small, will go directly to Arklow Cancer Support, helping to fund services such as counselling, transport to treatment, and emotional support for those affected by cancer.
To donate, simply visit their fundraising page on iDonate.ie and click the donate button.
