There were scenes of celebration across the county as Wicklow’s U16 Camogie team were crowned All-Ireland U16C Champions, delivering a commanding performance to defeat Cavan 2-8 to 0-4 in the final.

Wicklow’s young stars, who played with heart, determination, and undeniable skill, marked a proud day for the county and a major milestone in the players’ sporting journeys.

The final whistle confirmed what had become clear throughout the match. Wicklow were in control from start to finish. Their defensive strength, clever passing, and sharp finishing were on full display as they overcame a tough Cavan side on the biggest stage.

After the match, Wicklow County Camogie said;

“The whole county is so proud of this superb team — what a performance, what an achievement, what a team.”

The standout performer on the day was Danielle Shannon, who scored an incredible 1-7, proving clinical in front of goal. She was well supported by Leah Keogh, who added 0-1, and Arklow Rock Parnell’s Siun Byrne, who scored 1-0 to help secure the victory.
