Locals Help Rescue Trapped Seal On Beach

Several local Arklow residents came to the aid of a trapped seal on Friday evening. The animal had become entangled in heavy netting on the Nuns Beach before being spotted by a man.

Donal Power posted a request for help on Facebook saying:

“Down at the Nun’s beach at this very moment in time and I came across this little seal caught up in a net. If anyone is free to lend assistance please come straight away as it’s getting dark.”

Shortly afterwards two men helped free the trapped seal and return it to the sea. Donal posted an update on the rescue.

“Two heroes of the sea Dave Guilfoyle and Thomas Young managed successfully to remove the net from this feisty young juvenile seal. It is now safe and unharmed and ready for another big underwater adventure!”
