Peter Smith Pays Visit To Arklow Thin Lizzy Plaque

Peter Smith said it was “an emotional time for me” on the day that he stood next to the Arklow Thin Lizzy plaque. The actor is due to portray Phil Lynott in ‘Moonlight, The Philip Lynott Enigma‘, a production set for release this year.
Peter who is a former Arklow resident was accompanied by his daughters Mollie, Luna, Martina, Sophie, and Dannii told Arklow News “My eldest daughter Mollie was with me and she was born and raised here in Arklow. So for me, what a morning. god bless Arklow and god bless Philip and his beautiful memory.”
The plaque displayed on the wall at Coral Leisure Centre was unveiled by Phil Lynott’s mother Philomena in 2011. Thin Lizzy played a gig at the location which was then known as The Centre Ballroom on August 12th 1971. The plaque was organised by local Arklow fans of the band Colm and Mary Weadick and their ‘Friends of Philo’ supporters group.
Peter Smith who bares an uncanny resemblance to the Crumlin frontman said it was an honour to be chosen to portray Lynott.
“When offered the chance to play the role of Philip Lynott, I was truly honoured as an actor, as a proud Dubliner, and as a Thin Lizzy fanatic. Too much has been said about the rockstar lifestyle. It is a tired subject. This production seeks to honour Philip Lynott for what he was a literary great and consummate artist.”
Tickets for ‘Moonlight, The Philip Lynott Enigma‘ at Vicar Street in Dublin on the 2nd, 3rd, and 9th of April sold out leading to extra dates being added for 20th, 21st, and 22nd June
