Gardaí Continue Investigation Following Woman’s Death In Wexford

Gardaí in Wexford are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman following an incident on board a passenger ferry en route to Rosslare, Co. Wexford, on the evening of Tuesday, 25th February 2025.

Emergency services were alerted shortly after 5:00pm with Gardaí boarding the vessel upon its arrival at Rosslare Harbour, where the woman was pronounced deceased.

A post-mortem examination is currently being conducted at Waterford University Hospital, the results of which will determine the direction of the investigation.

Meanwhile, a man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in the Eastern Region.

To lead the inquiry, a Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed, and a Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to support and inform the deceased’s family. Gardaí have also confirmed that they are not investigating any separate public order incidents related to this ferry sailing.

The investigation remains ongoing, with updates expected following the results of the post-mortem examination.
