Arklow Woman To Take Ultimate Leap For Youth Suicide Prevention

Arklow native Jade Connors is preparing to take a leap of a lifetime — both emotionally and physically — as she skydives in memory of her late mother while raising funds for Youth Suicide Prevention Ireland (YSPI).
Motivated by a personal loss and a deep commitment to mental health awareness, Jade launched her fundraiser with a goal of €600. Incredibly, that goal was reached within just six hours. By the end of the first day, the total had soared to €1,500.
“A huge thank you to everyone for their generous donations and lovely messages! I am extremely grateful,” she said.
Jade lost her mother, Vicky, to suicide in 2011, and since then, mental health advocacy has been close to her heart. When the opportunity arose to cross skydiving off her bucket list and raise money for a meaningful cause, she didn’t hesitate.
“I’m skydiving for Youth Suicide Prevention Ireland to honour my mam,” she said. “I’m so excited — but also absolutely terrified!”
YSPI is a national charity dedicated to mental health education and suicide prevention in schools and colleges across Ireland. The organisation provides free resources, workshops, and support programmes aimed at helping young people navigate mental health challenges before they reach crisis point.
The skydive has been officially booked for 22nd June, and Jade is continuing to accept donations in the lead-up to the big day.
“There’s still plenty of time to donate to a good cause if you wish,” she added.
